Exmouth

Exmouth is located at the northern end of the famous Ningaloo Reef on the tip of the North West Cape of Western Australia, 1,270 kilometres north of Perth. A unique location, Exmouth is surrounded by a world-class marine park on one side, and rugged ranges on the other, this ideal setting makes Exmouth such a great place to visit.

Central to exploring the Ningaloo Reef Marine Park and The Cape Range National Park, Exmouth boasts the "Range to Reef" experience. The Cape Range National Park which has some spectacular gorges is an area of 50,580 hectares and is to the west of Exmouth with the Shot Hole and Charles Knife canyons 23 kilometres to the south.

Exmouth's tropical climate is a great feature of the area. In Summer the average maximum temperature is 37°C with an average minimum temperature of 20°C. In Winter the average maximum temperature is 24°C with an average minimum temperature of 11°C. Surface water temperatures range from 26-31°C in Summer (December - March) and 19-24°C in Winter.

Exmouth is renown as a mecca for fishing. Within 2 kilometres of the shore, big game fish provide a challenge to those seeking the adventure, or quality eating fish that you can only dream about. Fishing Charters and Tours almost ensure a god catch.

Exmouth has a wide and diverse range of tour operators including Swim with the Whale Sharks, Whale Watching, Scuba and Snorkelling the Ningaloo Reef and Coral Viewing. Extensive range of accommodation options, both at Exmouth and Coral Bay are available with vehicle and boat hire.

 

A drive from Exmouth around the top of the Cape Range past the Vlaming Head Lighthouse and south to spectacular Yardie Gorge is approximately 90 kilometres. In between are the great swimming and snorkelling locations such as Turquiose Bay and Lakeside, the Milyering Visitor Centre, the Jurabi Turtle Centre and nearby turtle nesting beaches. If you are so inclined, get the all over sun tan at the "optional clothing" beach of Mauritius

When arriving in Exmouth, the first stop should be the Exmouth Visitor Centre located on the main road as you enter Exmouth (Murat Road), a short distance into the town itself. The centre has all information for tours, accommodation and update data on Whales Sharks, Humpback Whales and Turtle Nesting.

With a population of 2500, Exmouth has all services necessary for a Holiday Destination with Skywest Airline operation daily flights Perth to Learmouth where you are collected by a shuttle bus. Coach line Greyhound / McCaffertys provides coach travel to the town. Exmouth Visitor Centre is a booking agent for Skywest and Greyhound / McCaffertys.
